# Licensing

## Effective grant

Brian Joseph Klock licenses his original software and accompanying documentation in this repository under **GNU GPL version 3 only** (`GPL-3.0-only`). [LICENSE](LICENSE) contains the complete unmodified terms; [NOTICE](NOTICE) identifies the owner and grant. This effective open-source license replaces the earlier unadopted branding-only proposal.

You may run, study, modify, rebrand, integrate, deploy, copy and redistribute covered work for personal, institutional and commercial purposes under GPLv3. Charging for copies, hosting or services is permitted. Distribution of modified or compiled covered work must satisfy the GPL's applicable license, notice, source and installation-information obligations. LICENSE governs; this summary does not replace it or promise free infrastructure, support, funded value or production access.

This grant covers only rights the named licensor holds. Other contributors retain their copyrights; contributions do not assign ownership. Broader existing third-party permissions remain available. This grant does not relicense other repositories, assign a financial asset or convey identity/custody authority.

## Modifications and conformance

GPL permissions include changing functional code, verifiers, configuration and documentation. Such changes may stop an implementation meeting a published receiving profile. Technical nonconformance does not withdraw GPL modification rights.

Use your own identity for an independent service or modified product, retain applicable legal notices and identify modifications as the GPL requires. The [branding guide](branding/README.md) is a convenience, not a limit on allowed code changes. Accurate attribution does not imply that the owner, Bankeiz or Receiz operates or endorses your service.

[CONFORMANCE.md](CONFORMANCE.md) distinguishes receiver-specific assessment from local reference tests, source inspection, a build, license grant or app registration. Another implementation can demonstrate the same standard without becoming the official reference. Those technical and trademark policies add no condition to GPL software rights.

## Distribution and retained rights

Preserve [third-party notices](THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md) and provide applicable complete Corresponding Source with distributed covered object code, including served browser JS/WASM where required. [SOURCE.md](SOURCE.md) identifies native build/source requirements. Source maps or copied notices alone do not establish complete distribution compliance.

The matching native browser and SDK source, preferred cryptographic dependency source, public circuit/setup resources and independent rebuild recipe are supplied in `native/`. Each application build publishes an exact source archive alongside the license page; [SOURCE.md](SOURCE.md) describes its inventory and verification. Downstream operators must include their modifications and retain the source corresponding to each distributed covered build. Successful reproduction does not constitute a blanket legal certification of every distribution.

GPLv3 supplies its own patent permissions, termination/reinstatement, warranty and liability provisions. No extra invention-reservation clause overrides those permissions. Copyright remains with its holders; this license does not transfer ownership or establish patents or trademark registrations.

Consult the [GNU licensing instructions](https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html) and [GPL FAQ](https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html). [LICENSE-PROPOSAL.md](LICENSE-PROPOSAL.md) is a superseded pointer, not a concurrent restriction.
